Vital Beats build a software platform for remote care of heart patients with implanted devices. We combine participatory design with nordic design aesthetics to ensure a meaningful product. This means we actively involve clinicians and patients in the design process. Danish hospitals use our platform daily.
Rolle: Lead Designer Vital Beats on App Store(under development) Website(under development)
Workflow automation means that patients are engaged in their own care while clinincians only need to spend time on the most important tasks. The AI and predictive analytics swiftly turns health data into valuable clinical insights. Providing clinicians with a quick and easy overview for decision-making.
The team and I mapped out our vision for the products, which consists of two components: The app for the patient and a dashboard for the hospital. Due to a very tight time schedule we had to start by building the MVPs and further develop the products after releasing the Vital Beats App.
I had to build the company’s digital identity on only three elements: The logo, two colors and several patterns. From that sparse starting point I had to envision the design so it could be implemented on the platform and on a variety of digital and physical products.
Vital Beats is a tech company founded on the desire to help sick people. I wanted to make a design that is technological, systematic and modern but which also mirrors the patients it’s meant to help. I started - as I usually do - by researching, visual brainstorming, getting my ideas down on paper and trying out different concepts before deciding on the best solution.
It was interesting for me to work with the visualisation of the patients’ heart rhythms. It demonstrates the company’s mission to help people with fragile hearts, and I used the pattern throughout the design.
I wanted to continue the lined style of the heart rhythm visualization in other illustrations and icons to create a common thread.
In order to create a consistent expression throughout the products I decided to use a blue overlay on the images which makes the orange lettering stand out. By using blue and orange persistently it makes the products recognisable to the users.
Vital Beats is developing an app to facilitate effortless communication between the patient and clinic. The patient receives easy and safe answers from the readings within the app. It’s possible for the patient to describe symptoms and ask questions by typing or speaking. The app Improves the contact between the patient and the clinic.
The app’s main function is to give the patient an overview of awaiting tasks within the app. Each card contains a different task, like ”open a new message” or “fill out your medication list”.
A core feature of the platform is questionnaires. These surveys prompt the patient to add information from their readings, giving the clinic the chance to respond or take action.
The clinic's dashboard lets clinicians check up on transmissions from their patients.
With the input from patients the system can make use of standard reply message system that makes it easier and faster for clinicians to answer common patient queries and ask standard questions, such as ”Everything is okay with your transmission”
We designed a new website with focus on providing information about our product and our company, as well as finding new hires.
Besides designing the digital solutions I had to design physical products such as business cards, brochures and sales materials.
